At First Tee – Greater Philadelphia, our participants are excelling both on and off the golf course.
Devin Carpenter, a First Tee – Greater Philadelphia participant since 2017 and a current Senior at The Haverford School, was recently one of four Haverford students named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists. Over 1.3 million students were entered into the scholarship program by taking the PSAT, and Devin and his classmates are among 16,000 candidates named as semifinalists based on their high scores.
Devin has been a First Tee – Greater Philadelphia participant for the last seven years, and has taken full advantage of everything the program has to offer.
“For the last seven years, First Tee has been a massively important part of my life, both on and off the golf course. I’ve met countless people in First Tee classes and events, formed lasting connections, and had opportunities to take part in a wide variety of impactful experiences.”
In addition to his involvement in our 14-18 golf programs, Devin participates in Play Days, our Summer Tournament Series, and was selected for the 2024 PGA TOUR Superstore Leadership Series. He has also been a recipient of the First Tee – Greater Philadelphia Academic Scholarship since its inception in 2022.
“First Tee is a big part of why I’m at Haverford and have had the opportunity to excel in the classroom, on the golf team, in robotics, and much more. When I look back at what I’ve achieved, I realize that so much of it wouldn’t have been possible without First Tee.”

Through participants like Devin, it’s clear that our incredible students are paving their paths to success through their own hard work and dedication.
