William Hyndman, V
Bill Hyndman is a 12-year Army veteran who served as a Blackhawk helicopter pilot, company commander, and personnel officer in the 82nd Airborne Division. He received three Meritorious Service Medals during his service in the Army. After transitioning from the military, Bill joined the team at Comcast, where he served as Area General Manager and later joined Comcast University to lead Technical Operations Learning and Development. He joined First Tee — Greater Philadelphia as Executive Director in 2015 and has overseen the vast expansion of the chapter, which now includes the operation of two golf courses, since then.
Bill grew up playing in golf events run by First Tee’s predecessor, The Greater Philadelphia Scholastic Golf Association, which started in 1980. He graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate from the University of Richmond, where he played on the golf team. Bill is an avid golfer and skier who has a passion for vintage car restorations. Bill lives in Bucks County, Pennsylvania with his wife and two sons.
Bill’s favorite core value is Perseverance. He believes that many of life’s challenges have helped build him into the person he is today. He has experienced great satisfaction by facing his obstacles head on and never giving up on his goals. To quote his cousin, Erik Weihenmayer, the inspiring, blind adventurer, “What’s within you is stronger than what’s in your way.”
If Bill was told to stay in one place for the rest of his life, he would choose the German Alps, where he spent four years while in the military.
