For Kyleigh Monahan, First Tee — Greater Philadelphia was about much more than learning the game of golf. During her three and a half years as a participant, she found mentors who encouraged her growth both on and off the course, while developing skills and values that continue to guide her today.
After graduating from high school, Kyleigh attended Lock Haven University, where she played Division II women’s golf while earning a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing. Looking back, she credits First Tee with helping prepare her for the opportunities and challenges that came along the way.
One of the biggest impacts First Tee had on Kyleigh was the relationships she built with her coaches. To this day, she keeps in touch with Coach Rebecca, turning to her for advice on everything from her golf swing to life’s biggest decisions. Those meaningful connections inspired Kyleigh to give back to the game that has given her so much.
Following her graduation this past May, Kyleigh accepted a part-time role as a golf instructor at Topgolf King of Prussia. She now helps young golfers develop their skills through the facility’s Summer Academy camps, where she has spent the past three summers watching campers return year after year with growing confidence and a love for the game.
When asked about the biggest lesson she learned through First Tee, Kyleigh reflected on the importance of understanding others. “Not everyone’s story is the same,” she said. “Sometimes we need to listen to what others have to offer and learn lessons through everyone.”
Kyleigh’s journey is a true example of how First Tee helps participants build confidence, develop meaningful relationships, and discover opportunities that last far beyond the golf course. We are proud to celebrate all she has accomplished and look forward to seeing where her journey takes her next.
